My Style

When my children look through the pages and pages
of scrapbook creations I have made with their faces
and various papers and what not, do they see a common trend
or a characteristic common to each page?
 Do I have a 'style'?

When I write on paper I have a little thing I do
under headings or at the end of what I write.
It is a soft line across the bottom, beginning on the left, halfway across I do two little upward loops (similar to leaves, a heart, or butterfly wings) and then continue the line across.

I do a similar thing on a lot of my scrapbook pages.
Some are more subtle and simple like the one previously posted of Andi and Derek on their wedding day.
(insert link here)

. . . and others are a bit more gaudy like this recent one.

Now that I look at this page again, I see that I have added more than the simple line with  loops in the middle. You see, I've added a few flourishes, which is the same as what I do with ink on paper when I doodle.

A-ha! That must be my style. :) Doodles and Flourishes.

I love to use a variety of techniques and items on my pages such as these unique brads by Basic Grey. I love to ink, spray Tattered Angels glimmer mist, use scissors to cut, needle and thread to add emboidery, (notice the french knots), a smudging of acrylic paint, lace or ribbon, and more ink edging. I used Crystal Effects by Stampin Up for the diminsional glossy effect on the doily type flower top.

The die cuts are using my newest addition to my crafting stash- "Wildflower' set by Lifestyle Crafts. To add detail and a smidgen of color I chalked the blooms using Pebbles, inc pearlescent chalk.

The hidden doily was sprayed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Creme De Chocolat and Key Lime Pie. Stickles has been dabbed throughout the various embellishments. The paper I used is Bo Bunny "A gift of love" and "So Sophie" by My Minds eye. American Crafts Ruban Premium Lace in brown sugar has been used in several of my recent pages, as well as a few inches here.

Pages like this one is why I LOVE to SCRAPBOOK.
I get to use staples, paint, ink, metal, paper, color, texture.
And I love BIG photos!

Simply Scrapping

Occasionally I do create simple pages.
This one has sat on my craft table since March.
I have pondered what more I should add.

It has text (along the skinny trees on the left side),
five photos, a hand cut title, stamping, inking.
It's done.

But it looks 'simple' to me.
Like it needs a few more layers.

This one of my dad and my grandson Kay
is simple, too.
Maybe it is the layers or dimension.
I like layers, I guess.

Don't take me wrong- I like this page.
The photo came from my previous photo calendar.

I like to add a smudge of paint occassionally,
hand detail with a Le Pen,
something hand cut, and always edging in ink.

A Few Of My Favorite Things

Tanner and Blake are two of my favorite people. This lucky grandma got to play with these two for a couple of hours. Tyler (their big brother) spent the day with his Aunt Mary since he had school and homework.

I am one lucky gal :)

Mirror, Mirror

In our house we have this little habit
of writing on the bathroom mirror.
Here is what my groggy eyes saw
when I got up on Mother's Day.
Amanda enticed me with the smell of cooking bacon.
It worked. :)
